Expected to reopen in the fall of 2026

BATON ROUGE, LA – The University Lakes Restoration Project team reminds the public that beginning June 4, 2025, May Street will be closed to all traffic between Dalrymple Drive and East Lakeshore Drive. This applies to vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians.

"The temporary closure of May Street is necessary to complete infrastructure improvements. We expect it to reopen in the fall of 2026," said Mark Goodson, Project Lead and Principal & Resilience Practice Lead for CSRS.

The University Lake Restoration Project is a collaborative effort between LSU, the City of Baton Rouge, and state and local partners. It is creating a more sustainable aquatic system, improving flood protection, and creating more recreational opportunities through dredging, shoreline restoration, and improved stormwater management.
